Change your Mind

Updated: Feb 13, 2019

God wants to change your attitude, your mental disposition, your understanding on how you see and perceive things. How you look at life itself, every situation and circumstance, how you see others, and even how you see yourself.

The Master said in John 3:6 “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” Galatians 5:19 - 23 states that the things birthed or produced from the natural, carnal man are manifested in lifestyle, morality, personality and character. They are fruits of the flesh, run by feelings and emotions and self-centeredness; the natural realm. The things birthed or produced from the spirit are manifested in lifestyle, morality, personality and character. These are the fruits of the Spirit and are the supernatural realm. This is just another way of saying that your human side is out of harmony with your divine side. I Corinthians 15:40 says that “…the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.”

Christ Jesus also said in John 3:7 “Marvel not that I said unto thee, ‘Ye must be born again’”. Verse 10 says that “Jesus answered and said unto him ‘Art thou a master of Israel and knowest not these things?” (‘Why are you surprised that I say that you must be born again, Nicodemus? You mean as learned as you are and being such a renowned scholar in theology, you don’t know this message? Have you not read the scriptures and the prophets that gave you example after example of your journey in Me and my coming and why I came from heaven to redeem you from your mistaken identity and to reveal the mysteries of the kingdom?’paraphrased).

I Corinthians 15:50 says “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.” Flesh and the carnal, limited human mind and it’s mere 10% comprehension cannot inherit righteousness, peace and joy, and come to that place of internal rest for the soul that God promised in Hebrews 3 & 4, and chapter 6, verse 16. Why? According to verses 9 and 10, the children of Israel saw His works, and were hung up in that, but they erred in their hearts because they did not know His ways. That sounds a lot like the preaching and teaching and the state in which God’s people are today; always looking for His works, but no one wants to learn about consecration and holy living. Paul said in Galatians 4:9 that the ways of this material, natural world are weak and beggarly elements in comparison to the supernatural, spiritual realm of power that brings healing, deliverance and reconciliation; the eternal, unlimited realm where all things are possible!

God just wants to drop that veil that has been on your mind of understanding to where you can be moved to another place, to where you begin to understand the work of the Holy Ghost and what’s really happening in your life, to where you’ll be removed from carnal thinking, even religious thinking about what is going to happen with you and where you’re going in God.

Beloved, Christ Jesus didn’t come here to set up more religion, but to reveal relationship with God that the Adam spirit thought he had lost in the Garden of Eden, when he was seduced to believe that he was something less than what God had created him to be. We must repent, re-think and change our minds about pre-conceived ideas about God and what He is and, even who you are in Him. God is eternal and limitless and we cannot put Him in a little box of man’s limited traditions, dogmas, rituals and religion, and thinking that He doesn’t exist or operate outside of our denominational borders. That is religious ignorance.

Also, just about all the preaching we hear today is using God’s written word for natural things. To heal a marriage, improve finances, to heal the natural body, and don’t get me wrong, God cares about those things. But we don’t hear much preaching about developing and growing in our relationship with God, because all these natural things are simply manifestation and by-products of your state of relationship and level of faith. Christ Jesus said in Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” We need to seek after the spiritual; to learn how to consecrate and dedicate ourselves to be more like Him. We seem to focus more on getting from God, rather than being more like our heavenly Father, created in His Image and Likeness.

Truth can be lost in knowledge that has no power to produce the effect. Words, ideas and affirmations are only tools of the mind. You cannot convince yourself. The Divine must reveal itself to you, and then you will know the truth of these. There is no power in declaration alone; the power is in the spiritual awareness and knowledge of the word. Jesus said in John 5:39 “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me.” Jesus was telling them, ‘You inquire, investigate, suppose and speak that which is written and in that you think you have eternal life, but the inspired writings only lead you to a deeper, consecrated and transformed life in Me.’(paraphrased). We must glean the spiritual principles in the book that give life. Romans 10:17 says “So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” Faith doesn’t come by quoting; faith comes by hearing with your spiritual discernment. It goes deeper than just surface information. The letter alone is fruitless; Christ must be sought out by inspiration.

II Corinthians 3:6 says “Who also hath made us able ministers of the New Testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.” It’s not so much in books and tapes, as much as it is in spiritual consciousness. It’s not by external knowledge, but by internal spiritual growth. Philippians 2:5 says “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” This is a scripture that we all should know well by now. ‘Let this same mental disposition, character and nature be in you, the same as it was in Jesus.’

Matthew 6:21-23 says, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, they whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!” Jesus was saying that the life, the condition of your being, your existence, is in your understanding, in your awareness and perception of what you think of as life. If your awareness, your perception is clear, without dissimulation, and blended with His Spirit, then is your existence full of the light of prosperity in all areas of your life; physically, materially and spiritually. But if your awareness and perception be calamitous, diseased and degenerate, how great are these things, because they are your focus, your belief and reality, rather than focusing on the Light of God’s Truth.

As we have mentioned before, we must glean the spiritual principles in the scriptures that give us life, for these life- giving principles are spiritually discerned. I Corinthians 2:13 & 14 clearly state this “Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” It is not just a mere belief; it is an encounter, a personal spiritual experience that is yours and God’s alone! So you see beloved of God, it is not in human intellect, reason, knowledge or doctrine, but in an intimate, one on one relationship with Jesus Christ Himself, the Son of the Living God! Oh Hallelujah! He is the breath that you take, every beat of your heart; He is your sight and your hearing! He is the transformation of your soul! Blessed be the name of Jesus, the Son of the Living God, and Savior of the world!

You are a supernatural, eternal spirit being, temporarily inhabiting and dwelling in a corporeal, material vehicle called the body. You are a spirit being brought here into this small parenthesis in eternity we call time for a purpose, and that’s to show forth the praises of Him, who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. It is because of His great love and His great mercy that you, my wonderful friend, are fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:13-16 says “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth (in the womb of your mother). Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being imperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.”

You are priceless beloved! You are a child of God Himself! You are in the El-ohim, the plurality of God. The extension of what He is. Jesus said this in John 15:4 & 5 “Abide in Me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me. I am the Vine and ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me and I in him, the same bringeth for much fruit: for without Me you can do nothing.” Christ is a many-membered body. He is the source and we are extensions of that source. The leaves (works) of the branches that we are (through the source) are for the healing (the restoration, the reconciliation) of the nations. Not only for the natural nations, kindreds and tongues, but also the imaginations, the thoughts and ways of a dying world, which is falling under the weight of its own cruelty. Proverbs 14: 12 says “There is a way that seemeth right unto man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” As people of God we should know better. For there is a way that is right for man, and that end thereof is righteousness, which is being right with God, seeing through His eyes, thinking with His mind and living the Zoe life that Jesus spoke about in John 10:10.

Francis of Assisi once said, “Preach the gospel at all times, and if necessary, use words.” Remember beloved; this life in Christ is not just about getting & having only natural things, but about being and becoming more like Jesus. He is the entrance to the eternal kingdom. He is our example for us to follow. Matthew 5:48 says, “Be ye perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.” I Peter 1:15 says “Be ye holy for I am holy.” He didn’t say act perfect and holy, because if that’s what you do, it’s still just an act. He said ‘be ye’ and that means that it is a state of being, a state of existence, and a true reality in your life, and that means that He has given you the power and ability to be that. And even better than that, it means that there is perfection and holiness in you, just waiting to be revealed and unveiled as we walk in obedience and consecration to His ways.

Romans 1:17 says “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written: The just shall live by faith.” We must be transformed from one level of faith to another; the faith that we had last year, believing the way we did, and believing for the things we did, should not be the faith that we should be in this year. We should be deeper into our walk; walking in greater faith, experiencing more of the spiritual. John 1:16 says “And of His fullness have all we received, and grace for grace.” II Corinthians 3:18 says “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass (mirror) the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” We are to reveal the glory (appearance, the honor, the distinction and prosperity) of the Christ in you. Remember that, that which is born of the flesh is flesh; for the glory of the terrestrial (the natural, the material) is one, but the glory of the celestial, that which is born of the Spirit is spirit (the supernatural and spiritual), is yet another.

And isn’t it amazing how we can say that we’re Christians, confessing that we believe what the scriptures say about us being spiritual beings, and believing that we are children of God who is spirit, how most of us are afraid of the spirit realm and its presence. The spiritual world should be an everyday occurrence if we’re supposed to be spiritual beings, walking ‘in the spirit’ (as they say). I believe that most of us have yet to understand what that really means and all the benefits and blessings that God has given us in it. How can we be afraid of something that is supposed to be our natural habitat? And if we have the Holy Spirit of discernment we should be able to try the spirits to see if they be of God, and should be able to know how to deal with them in power, for greater is He that is in you, and if God be for you, who, what situation, what challenge or tormented, defeated entity can be against you?

Remember beloved that God didn’t give you His Spirit so that you can walk the way that others of this day walk. He gave you His anointing & His Spirit so that you can propagate the good news of what Jesus did for mankind over 2000 years ago. We are His hands and His feet, the salt of the earth, and the light of the world. Ephesians 5:8 says “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of Light.” I Thessalonians 5:5 says “Ye are all the children of light, and children of the day…” Pretty basic, but Truth.

May the glory of His celestial habitation dwell in your soul body for nothing more than His glory alone. Receive it in faith; embrace it in power. For this is the will of God concerning you.
